IT’S BEEN A WHILE….!

IT’S BEEN A WHILE….!

Wow, where has the time gone? I’ve been really busy painting and getting ready for some upcoming events since my last post in November. It’s all really exciting, and I can’t believe that in less than 3 years since taking my hobby of abstract painting to a more serious level, I’ve achieved so much.

In the last 10 months, I’ve had 3 exhibitions, with the last one being a solo show. As an emerging artist, sales have been good for me, and I just love the fact that people want to have my work in their homes. That is major satisfaction!

As I write this, 16 of my paintings are now in Florida, for Maxwell Chapman of Steidel Fine Art. This international gallery will be showing my work at Artexpo17, Pier 94, NYC April 21-24. I met Maxwell’s father, Charles, at The Affordable Art Fair, Hampstead, London, last June. We had a brief chat, and I left him my card. Within a couple of days, Maxwell had emailed me asking if I would show my work with them. I didn’t have to think long! A quick search told me that Artexpo is billed as the world’s biggest fine art fair, the “Paris Fashion Week” of the art world, visited by thousands of art lovers including architects, interior designers, buyers, collectors and curators. I’ll be there on the stand  to talk about my work and hopefully sell some! Anyone reading this who’ll be in NYC at that time, please come and see my work, and that of hundreds of other artists too.

After Artexpo, my work will move to Steidel Fine Art’s gallery in Austin Texas, ready for the exhibiton titled “The British Are Coming”. This will be showing the work of 4 British artists including mine. And I’m thrilled that one of my pieces “Just Focus” was chosen for the marketing of this exhibition. I’m billed as the “spotlight artist”

On top of all that, back in October, the editor of a new high end, London based art journal, Blue Milk, contacted me on my Instagram account to say he loved my work and asked if I would submit some images for possible inclusion in their next edition with the theme of movement. I selected 5 paintings that I felt were suitable. I really thought I’d hear nothing more. But a couple of months ago, I received an email saying my work had been shortlisted from 700 artist’s work for inclusion. And two weeks ago, I was told that my painting “The Swell” was to be published. This particular painting is in the American consignment, and I can’t wait to be reunited with it, and all the others, in New York!

Steidel Fine Art will also be showing my work at Spectrum Miami in December…..another big fair, and great exposure again for me.

I contacted a company called ” Little Van Gogh” in November about taking my work on board. This company exhibits the work of  “the greatest emerging UK artists” in contemporary office spaces in the UK and Europe on a rolling two monthy period. I really wasn’t very hopeful, but I just thought what the heck, nothing ventured nothing gained! I just had a positive response from them, and they want a series of  11 paintings from me whenever I’m ready.

So, after all that, I need to get back to painting…..I have lots of canvases on the go… photos soon !!
