Success in London!
After what seemed like a very long time since booking the space, launch night at The Brick Lane Gallery Annexe on Sclater Street went brilliantly last Wednesday evening.
It was a group abstract exhibition, with work from 7 artists, and on the night, Samanta Ulybin and I were there to chat to a huge crowd of friends, family and strangers! The atmosphere was buzzing, and any nerves I had about my debut onto the London art scene soon disappeared. In fact, the nerves disappeared on my way across London when I received a call from a friend who had turned up at the gallery early. “Where are you, and do you want the good news?” she said excitedly. “You’ve sold one”….!
A chap had driven past the gallery, saw the art on display, parked his car outside ran in, looked around, and said “I’ll take that one” pointing to one of three in the series “Red With Colour. Apparently, he’d been searching for something really different, loved my work, paid, and took the painting with him!
Another one in the same series “Red With Colour” also sold that night, to a chap who’d looked at my work online, loved my style, and turned up at the end of the evening.
“London’s Burning” also had lots of attention, as it did at my first exhibition in May in Knutsford. People seem to be drawn to it, but it’s a big canvas, and I’m just waiting for someone with enough wall space to say “yes please”!
The exhibition is on until this coming Sunday 25th September, so any of you in and around London who can pop in, please do so.
A massive thank you to everyone who pitched up in the crazy heat on Wednesday evening to support me, I really appreciated it. For me, it was a surreal experience. When I started to take my hobby more seriously just over two years ago, I could only dream of exhibiting and selling my work. Now I have exhibited in Knutsford and London in a 5 month period. My first solo exhibition launches on 4th November at The Gallery Liverpool, and I’ll be showing my work at Artexpo in New York next April……I’m a very happy chappy!
