FROM MY WINDOW collection

I began this collection of abstracted landscapes during the first Covid lockdown, when international travel was banned. Social media became overrun with photos of beautiful locations as “staycations” were the only option for us all to have any kind of holiday. I kept looking at those images of meadows, coastlines, beaches, mountains,  sky & sunsets, and thought I could reinterpret them in my own style.

Whilst these paintings look very simple, choosing colours to represent the different elements of a particular landscape is critical, and so is ensuring the panels of colour are crisp.

Whilst the word abstract literally means removed from reality, these paintings do make reference to all the wonderful places that surround us.

If you have a photo of a favourite or special location, and you’d love my interpretation of it, I’d be very happy to discuss it with you.

BEYOND THE TREES collection

As an abstract artist, a new collection of my work usually starts by experimentation.

BEYOND THE TREES came about after a period of losing my creative mojo, and I knew I had to get back into my groove. I just needed to apply paint onto canvas, no matter what the result. After adding layer upon layer of paint in a loose vertical fashion, what emerged very slightly resembled trees. I went with it, and the first completed painting truly excited me. I could see a series happening…and that’s exactly what happened. I hope you love them as much as I do !

If you’d like to enhance your space with this style of painting, you can also  commission me to create one (or more) in your choice of size and colours. I look forward to hearing from you!

PURE ABSTRACTS collection

My pure abstract paintings come from somewhere deep within my head and heart.

The word ABSTRACT literally means removed from reality, and with these paintings I’m not trying to replicate anything that we recognise. There is usually no specific start and end point. I allow the paint to control the composition until I feel excitement at what I see unfolding on the canvas. However, quite often once I step back from the finished work, I notice a slight resemblance to something in the real world. That can then lead to the title of that painting.  What’s really interesting is that different people see different things in my pure abstract paintings. That for me is a result!

If you’d love a large abstract painting for your space , please contact me and we can discuss your ideas to make them become a unique statement!
